…What happened to Krista Ortiz?
It still makes me smile thinking of the time one of my readers admitted to turning to Google to find the answer to that question.
It’s also symbolic of the journey so many of you have shared with me these last couple years. How so many of you have cried with me as I questioned and threw punches at God in every post, from the NorthEast all the way down to the sweet ol’ South.
How many of you have been following my journey since the infamous ‘crock pot post’ the post that successfully gave me both my first panic attack, and a legit amount of followers I never asked for (and just months before my world came crashing down… Thanks, God.)
Others of you, have jumped on this journey with me somewhere down the line, when a friend shared a post of mine on social media and you found comfort knowing there was someone out there more jacked up …er, struggling like you.
Whether you read my posts religiously, or secretly binge read them late into the night, I am truly thankful for each and every one of you.
You have been some of my biggest cheerleaders and prayer warriors – so many have even become friends! Which is why I am so excited to announce this new 8-week series I am doing on the blog.
As you know I have never done something like this before (And honestly, will not likely ever do it again…) This is just something God is really pressing me to do.
Here’s how it will work:
If you are familiar with Apple Music; a streaming music service where you can listen to anything from Justin Timberlake to Ingrid Michaelson, Rihanna to Passenger. You know there is the “Intro To” option that is available when you just don’t know where to start.
‘Intro to’ gives a snapshot – an introduction – to an artist’s musical journey. In Justin Timberlake’s case, all the way back to his hydrogen-peroxide-blonde days, to the soulful, terribly charming and incredibly good-looking crooner that he is today. Thank you Lord Jesus, hallelujah and amen!
In much of the same way, this series on the blog is going to give all of you reading, an intro to our story – more importantly, an ‘Intro To Our Miracle!’
Because to say God has done a miracle in my life and marriage this year is an understatement – Miracles, I CAN’T WAIT to tell you all about!
(…that was also my perfect opportunity to say ya’ll btw, and I missed it…)
But here’s why I believe so much in the power of vulnerability and true authenticity..
Because to truly appreciate His miracle, we must first grasp the magnitude of our mess.
Which is why I have decided to post a weekly snapshot of ‘our mess’ – our heart wrenching 2-year journey through heartbreak, never-ending lies, depression and divorce – the ‘Intro To Our Miracle!’
Every Wednesday (starting TOMORROW) for the next 8 weeks I will repost previously published parts of our story (starting with the day my heart broke) so that at the end of the year I can give an update on all the amazing MIRACLES God has done in my life and in my marriage!
Like legit miracles, people! No exaggerations.
Whether you have been reading for years and have read (and memorized) each post of mine in the past, or admittedly, know little-to-nothing about me and are just a tiny bit (very very minuscule-y) curious. Whether you are knee-deep in the struggle yourself, fighting long and hard and on the verge of letting go, or just itching for some dirt (…because after all, I do live in the South…)
Either way, I welcome your curiosity and even your judgment, because here’s what I am determined to do:
- Give God the credit He deserves – to tell the gripping story He wrote, and shout His beautiful and miraculous rescue from the top of my lungs.
- For others to know the same God is available to them in their darkest days. Because if God could do it for us, He could do it for anyone (Read: freaking a-n-y-o-n-e!)
Need proof? …Need dirt? …Need answers like Bev, to what really happened to Krista Ortiz? 🙂 Check back every Wednesday.
My mess. His miracle.
Happy Reading, friends!
Krista,
Your post are so honest you share the good, the bad, and the down right nasty and it’s so encouraging! Sharing your struggles in your marriage has helped me so much! People just assume that because your a pastor’s wife or really any ministry leaders wife everything is awesomely perfect and they think your life is all unicorns and butterflies! Thank you for sharing through the heartache and happiness. I’m feel so blessed that you have allowed me to share this with you.

Wow! Stepping out in faith to what God has asked of you and reposting your story, which is really HIS story, so that others “… know the same God is available to them in their darkest days.” AMEN!!!!! Thank you for your willingness to be transparent and vulnerable again (or maybe a better word is “still” instead of “again”) and allow God to use your words to reach our hidden parts! I appreciate you and your proclamation of our very good God!
